Packing check by barcode in weclapp: scan items, verify quantities

Confirm every line item by EAN; nothing ships until everything is correct.

Wrong items or wrong quantities are the most expensive mistakes in shipping because they only show up at the customer's. With the item scan of Fulfillment 4 weclapp, packers confirm every line item by EAN or item number, the counter runs along per line item, and the shipping label is only created once all line items are confirmed. Scanning out of order is allowed, and so are interruptions: progress can be saved temporarily. What the check can do and where it is tied to the master data in weclapp is explained here.

How it works

  1. Open the delivery: via delivery note scan or from the delivery list. For large deliveries, grouping identical items and a fixed sorting of line items help.
  2. Scan items: scan the EAN or item number, in any order. The app counts up “x of y” per line item and alerts you if an item has already been scanned completely or does not belong to the delivery.
  3. Mark special cases: for items without a readable barcode, you confirm manually with a reason (packed manually, out of stock, damaged). Items that don't need to be scanned are flagged in weclapp via an additional field.
  4. Ship: after the last scan, you tap Submit, scan the delivery number again, or the app ships automatically (“Automatic shipping after last scan”). Label, printing and status Shipped follow in weclapp. If the picked quantities deviate from the delivery, the app can prevent shipping.

Who it is suited for

  • Shops and merchants with mixed orders where mix-ups between variants (size, color, pack size) occur.
  • B2B shippers with large deliveries and many line items who need gapless confirmation per line item.
  • Set and bundle shippers: with the bill of materials flag, you scan the set once and the components count along.

Limits, honestly

  • Only what has an EAN, a serial number or a batch in weclapp can be scanned. If that is missing, manual confirmation remains.
  • The target quantities come from the weclapp delivery. If goods are missing, you mark the line item (out of stock, damaged); the app ships the packed quantity and creates a new delivery in the order for the rest.
  • Bills of materials work in one direction: either scan the set or the components, controlled via the additional field on the item.
  • Duplicate or ambiguous EANs (for example the same GTIN on two variants) lead to “item not found” or to the wrong line item. Clean master data is a prerequisite.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I scan in any order?

Yes. The app assigns every scan to the matching line item, regardless of the order on the delivery note.

What happens if I'm interrupted?

With the setting “Save scan progress temporarily”, the state is kept. You reopen the delivery later and carry on, or reset the progress.

Can the delivery still go out if an item is missing?

Only deliberately: you mark the line item as out of stock or damaged. The app ships the packed quantity, creates a new delivery in the order for the rest and can inform your team via webhook. Without a marking, it blocks shipping until all line items are confirmed.

Rule out mix-ups at the packing table?

Together with you, we check the item master data, set up the item scan and test a real delivery.
