Gefahrgut 4 weclapp

Dangerous goods net weight and density factor in weclapp

Net instead of gross for points and carrier data, density for the LQ limit in liters.

With dangerous goods, the mass of the substance counts, not the weight of the package. That is why Fulfillment 4 weclapp calculates with the net weight of your weclapp items. For liquids, the density factor comes in: it translates the LQ limit in liters into kilograms, a special feature of Fulfillment 4 weclapp.

Net weight: the basis of all dangerous goods information

How the points total is calculated from it: ADR points and the 1,000-point rule.

Source

The standard net weight field on the weclapp item, not a separate additional field.

Per substance

Net weight times quantity in the package, grouped by UN number. The same item in several bill of materials line items counts once.

Used for

Points total, net quantity in the transport document and the dangerous goods data sent to DPD, Gebrüder Weiss and Dachser; for Dachser rounded to whole kilograms.

If it is missing

Then the item counts as zero. That is why an empty net weight is the most common stumbling block.

Density factor: converting LQ limits in liters reliably

For many liquids, the LQ limit per inner packaging is given in liters, but weclapp holds a weight. The density factor (g/ml, between 0.5 and 3.0) on the item closes this gap: the liter limit times the density gives the limit in kilograms. It only affects the LQ decision, not the points total or the label. Example: cleaning agent of class 8, packing group II, 1.03 kg per bottle, density 1.03 g/ml.

Without density factor

The 1.03 kg bottle fails the 1 kg limit and does not ship as LQ.

With density factor 1.03 g/ml

The 1 liter limit equals 1.03 kg. The bottle may ship as LQ.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to maintain the density factor for every item?

No, only for liquids that are supposed to ship as LQ and whose limit is given in liters. Without a density factor, the app checks the net weight directly against the limit.

Where do I get the density?

Usually from the manufacturer's safety data sheet. Enter it in g/ml on the weclapp item.

Does the app count gross or net?

Net: net weight of the item times quantity, not the gross weight of the parcel.
