The 1,000-point rule under ADR 1.1.3.6 decides which exemptions apply to a transport. If you add up the points by hand from data sheets, it's easy to miscalculate. Fulfillment 4 weclapp calculates the point total for every dangerous goods shipment from your weclapp item data and writes it into the transport document, for DPD, Gebrüder Weiss, and Dachser. How the app calculates

  1. Quantity per substance: Net weight of the weclapp item times the quantity in the parcel, summed per UN number. If the same item appears in several bill of materials lines, it only counts once.
  2. Factor: The points factor for the UN number comes from the DPD dangerous goods database; you don't maintain it yourself.
  3. LQ doesn't count: Lines that ship as limited quantities enter the total with zero points.
  4. Note: The point total and the matching exemption note are suggested in the transport document. Check the note before shipping.

Why net rather than gross counts and where the density factor applies: Net weight and density factor.

What remains despite the exemption

Even below the limit, not all obligations fall away. Under ADR 1.1.3.6, the following remain, among others:

BG Verkehr gives a good overview. Whether your transport is exempt is for you to judge; the app provides the number for it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does gross or net count?

The app calculates with the net weight from the weclapp item times the quantity, not with the gross weight of the parcel. If the net weight on the item is empty, the item counts as zero, so always maintain it.

Does the app calculate in liters or kilograms?

In kilograms, from the net weight in weclapp. For liquids, the ADR provides for the quantity in liters. For liquids with a density below 1 g/ml, the number of liters is higher than the weight. If you ship a lot of these, double-check the total or talk to us.

Does the 1,000-point rule also apply with a parcel carrier?

The rule refers to the transport unit, meaning the vehicle. With a parcel carrier, only the carrier knows the whole load. The app calculates the points of your shipment and writes them into the transport document so that they can be taken into account there.
